亞太神學教育聯盟(Asia Pacific Theological Union, APTU)
Through collaboration and alliance with the Asia Pacific Theological Union (APTU), we offer doctoral degree programs in Taiwan. Our aim is to create a dynamic platform for learning, research, and collaboration.
We are committed to deepening theological research, fostering academic excellence, and promoting unity among institutions serving the church. Our mission extends beyond education—we also strive to share resources, develop leadership, and respond to the unique challenges faced by member schools across different denominations, cultures, societies, and missions.
Through fostering collaboration, dialogue, and innovation, TGTU aims to equip the next generation of Christian leaders and support churches in promoting transformative ministry within the diverse context of Taiwan and the Asia Pacific region.
Our Vision
Members of the TGTU Taiwan Graduate Theological Union Studies share the belief that the primary mission of education is to ensure that all people enjoy freedom and dignity. Guided by the ethical values of God's Kingdom, educational institutions should dedicate themselves to cultivating critically minded scholars who will become active agents driving social transformation.
This educational philosophy is inspired by the Bible, with a particular emphasis on God's preferential love for the vulnerable, the excluded, and marginalized groups. Therefore, TGTU's curriculum encourages theological educators and students to actively engage with and participate in theology alongside the poor, marginalized, and neglected groups in society.
Furthermore, TGTU Taiwan Graduate Theological Union also recognizes that its theological imagination has been influenced by the colonial traditions of Europe and America, gradually alienating our theological education from our own culture and traditions. At the same time, the colonial religious system has promoted dualistic soteriology, claiming that truth exists only in the Christian world and demanding that Christian missions dismantle and deny the truths cherished in traditional culture. In contrast, TGTU Taiwan United Theological Research Institute embraces the concept of "Universal Christ"—His unconditional love embraces all creation, transcending the boundaries of time and space.
TGTU Taiwan Graduate Theological Union firmly believes that participation in theological education is itself a testimony to God the Creator—the One who continually renews all things and enables humanity to experience a richer life. This renewal is achieved through building communities rooted in love, forgiveness, equality, self-identity, mutual respect, justice, and other ethical and biblical core values.
Our Mission
TGTU Taiwan Graduate Theological Union is dedicated to strengthening theological education by enhancing research standards, promoting academic excellence, fostering holistic spirituality and ministry, and mobilizing diverse resources to empower churches. Our work aims to provide educational institutions across Taiwan's diverse cultural landscape with the tools, partnerships, and support they need to cultivate faithful, thoughtful, and situationally aware Christian leaders.
Through collaboration and a shared vision, we look forward to continuously deepening theological education and advancing the church's mission throughout Taiwan and Asia.
